JOSH IRELAND IS A CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED AUTHOR AND BESTSELLING GHOSTWRITER

How I Can Help You

I’ve worked as a ghostwriter and non-fiction author for ten years, before that I worked as a non-fiction editor at two major publishing houses. I’m also the author of two critically acclaimed works of non-fiction. The Traitors was an Observer book of the year in 2017. Churchill & Son was a Daily Telegraph book of the year in 2021.

I’ve ghostwritten five Sunday Times bestselling titles, including one number one bestseller. Most recently, Unbreakable by Melvyn Downes (Penguin Random House) has been a number one Amazon bestseller since its release in June of this year. I’ve written books for A-list celebrities, sports stars, politicians, oligarchs and adventurers. But I’ve also written for private clients who are keen to make a record of their lives.

If you’ve got an idea – whether it’s for a novel, or a memoir, or a piece of self-help – then I can help you make it happen. I’m committed to writing every book in a vivid way that captures the author’s voice, articulates the narrative or idea that they want to share, and reaches the widest possible audience. More than anything, I want them to be proud of the book we’ve created.

How I Work

The most important thing to me is that you enjoy the process and feel comfortable all the way through. So, I’m always keen to find the way of working that suits the author best, whether that’s meeting in person, or online. I can be involved at any stage of the process, from the conception of an idea right through to the writing itself, and any editing or proofreading that might follow. It’s up to you.

You will own the copyright of any text we produce together. Your name will appear on the cover, or byline.

 How Much Will It Cost?

Every project is different, and its cost will be determined by the length (or word count), the speed with which you want to work, and the level of involvement you’d like me to have. But my fee for a full-length manuscript (of approximately 300 pages) is likely to begin at around £10,000.

Praise for The Traitors

‘Ireland tells his four characters’ stories with immense skill, to reveal their motives and lead them to inevitable ruin.’
Observer, Books of the Year

‘Clever, racy . . . Ireland writes with a fine swagger. His characters and their contrivances are shabby, but they become, in his hands, the material for a book full of energy and stylish phrase-making’
Lucy Hughes-Hallet, The Times

‘A terrific read that is lucid, insightful and beautifully written.’
Giles Milton

‘Josh Ireland’s achievement is to tell the story of some of Britain’s most inglorious, notorious and vainglorious characters in the most glorious and elegant way. He provides a warning for our times from this true story, painting the most vivid of pictures with the sharpest of novelists’ pens.’
John Bew

Praise for Churchill & Son

‘Like a Russian novel, this biography brilliantly traces the psychological burden passed down from Winston Churchill’s cold father to his own overindulged son.’
Daily Telegraph, Books of the Year

‘A fascinating, acute and touching portrait of Churchill and Randolph.’
Simon Sebag Montefiore

‘This is a revelatory portrait of an explosive relationship between a great man and his infamous son. With skill and sensitivity, Josh Ireland lays bare the anguish of their dysfunctional love.’
Jonathan Dimbleby

‘Beautifully written, revelatory, evocative and hugely timely. A triumph.’
Damien Lewis
